Maldives: An Unforgettable Trip

I think the pictures speak for themselves and I have taken many more photos of the beautiful scenes of Maldives (but nothing beats the real thing).

We chose Zithali, a resort that required seaplane transfer and it was a great decision since the ride came with breathtaking views of atolls. Our water villa at Zithali comes with a private pool, jacuzzi, rainshowers. For me, this was a holiday where I had no desire to be out of the hotel room to explore the surroundings. It seemed to be an incredibly expensive way to laze around (since J stayed behind in Singapore) but it was important time spent alone and as a couple. The most active activities we did were to snorkel and cruise around looking for dolphins and enjoy the sunset over the Indian Ocean. For someone like me who is scared of all other living creatures, the experience was outside of my comfort zone and it was actually fun!

On the return flight, I came across an article in the Singapore Airline magazine that listed the top travel destinations and unsurprisingly, Maldives made the list and it is definitely a place that I would revisit :)

J's is ONE!

We had a small celebration with family and close friends. J was happy for most part of the day since we held the party in between his nap times. He even held little R's hand... hm... potential girlfriend in future. Thanks to everyone for your well wished :)

The only outburst that day was when he was choosing items (including a book, calculator, egg to represent food, ruler etc as dictated by tradition). After choosing the book, he decided to pick up the egg and for some unknown reason threw it onto the floor and when it cracked, it startled him and he wailed! what a funny moment and I captured it here:

We also took him to the studio for more professional shots to commemorate this milestone. Stay tuned for the pictures!

Welcome BB!

Er, the baby has a mind of his own and decided to arrive on 4 Aug instead! After dinner with my family, I felt contractions that were getting more regular but they were still sparse... around mid-night, I told G that it was impossible for me to sleep and we made the call for us to head for the hospital, false alarm or not...

It turned out to be a good call since I was 3 cm dilated by around 1 am... the rest of the night proved to be a long one while we waited for my cervix to be dilated.... epidural made the whole process bearable since I slept through most of the 14 hours of waiting...

By 3.30 pm, Dr A decided that it was time to push! Alas, the pushing was in vain since baby was too big to come through... emergency C-section had to take place and I was anxious for the safe arrival of baby... G could not be with us in the operating theatre and that greatly reduced my comfort level then...

In the end, I was under GA during the C-section so neither of us managed to welcome our baby at 1615 hours! What a disappointment... While waiting at the recovery ward, my mind was still groggy but I remembered asking repeatedly for my baby and was reassured that he has been sent to our room. I later found out from G that he saw baby outside the operating theatre and he already had his eyes opened :)

I finally got to see my baby at 1845 hours and fell in love with him immediately :P

Farewell 20s, Hello 30s

As I turn 30 today, I reflected that I have had a blessed life so far. I have a loving hubby, a good network of friends and am in a job that I like. I feel that I have lived my life so far with few regrets and am now looking forward to motherhood. This should be an exciting next phase of my life and I hope to enjoy a new life with my little one (and G), whenever he choose to arrive...

A mega candle

Today is my birthday!

Nothing out of the ordinary... except this is the first time I am working on my birthday. Have been planning for a few trips so not much leave to spare... in any case, I will be bumming in Cambodia this time tmr =)

The morning was uneventful, some firefighting to sort work out before I go on leave... Had an early lunch with KC and PS. Upon my return, I found my colleagues outside the office and was warned not to enter cos there was a 'fire'! The office smelled horrible and after hanging around for a while (during which I briefed CC on some analysis), I decided to head for home since G was on leave. PY was leaving at the same time with his precious toy collection!

Thanks to my friends and colleagues, I enjoyed the food at Sakuraya Fish Market, Spruce, Cedele, Asaki, Valentinos.... am now waiting for the 'delivery' of my new running shoes and this is my present from G:
