Good tidings

ML's wedding over the weekend kept me busy over but it was a happy event cos she finally tied the knot with LJ after more than 10 years of courtship =) Also a good time to catch up with the jc gals since most of them are now based overseas...

Another piece of good news is E's upcoming wedding... he shared the exclusive news just tonight and this morning I heard of an ex-colleague's wedding plans too =)

Glad my friends are (going to be) happily married and am most thankful for lovely G. He has been watering our new plants and taking on chores like throwing rubbish now that we are not keeping a domestic help anymore.

JUST LIVING IS NOT ENOUGH...

ONE MUST HAVE SUNSHINE, FREEDOM AND A LITTLE FLOWER Hans Christian Anderson

Found this quote to be apt but I would just add friends to the list too... Am in grateful mood for past colleagues, in particular those whom I have just met for lunch today =)

The past and present

Went to the Kangxi exhibition at the Asian Civilisation Museum. Was most amazed by a set of tea cups that were crafted so exquisitely such that the words on them could be seen from the inside!

Somehow, I feel that modern man is not as creative and resourceful...

Yippee!! A new toy!

My new toy is the Canon EOS 500D that I have been eyeing for some time. We got it today, the first weekend of G's freedom from CFA =) This shall be my advance birthday present!

And this is the first shot of it:
p.s.: Alan Photo at Funan is a good place if you are thinking of getting a new camera. The price is reasonable considering I had researched a number of places beforehand. PS helped too. Thanks gal!

Long and short term memory

How do we remember what we remember? Do you remember loved ones differently? I hope I do.

I recall a module on cognitive psychology that was on memory and the functions of various parts of our brain (prefrontal cortex, Wernicke's area etc). Essentially, science tells us that different parts of our brain are responsible for different aspects of memory. In particular, if you are keen to learn more about long and short term memory, I would highly recommend Mr Brain episode 3 =)

Prototype

I created this over the weekend and had the pleasure of shopping for ribbons. Found one that matches our dress to be used for the actual wrist corsage =)

p.s. Plaza Sing is a heaven for ribbons!
p.p.s. Totally irrelevant but am thrilled to watch Federer win his 14th Grand Slam title =P

Feeling good...

... cos I made these! Gave one bouquet to a friend and the other to my MIL =)
Am experimenting now to make the corsages for a friend's wedding coming up on 21 June. Will upload the pics once they are readY!

Elusive sleep

Am I addicted to blogging already?

I only had my virgin post a couple of hours ago and here I am again... well, I usually don't take long to fall asleep but there are also the nights when I can't sleep and this is one of them. Too bad Mr Brain is only at episode 1. Otherwise, sleeplessness will be a happy problem.
[OMG - I just searched and realised episode 2 is out! brillant!!]

Is this partly why I daydream so much?

My flowers of labour

Have been busy "pottering" for the past few weeks:

The different arrangements made use of so much chrysanthemums, cyprus sticks, coconut leaves etc that I was quick sick of them... but the good thing is that a new arrangement each week really brightens up the house =)

I dream that one day I would have a garden full of flowers and greens to choose from for my arrangements but I guess I have to start small... the plan is to drive to the nursery after hubby's CFA to start my plant collection although admittedly I may not have green fingers...

In case you were expecting pottery, I do have to say that I feel a shame for giving it up after learning it for 1.5 years. I dream of going back to it someday but its floral arrangement for now!

Presents!

My hubby told me he had a surprise for me and this was it! He chanced upon a stall selling Levi's tees and bought himself and me one each. Isn't it sweet of him?
His had a cute potato and tagline of "I am a couch potato". He hasn't been out of the house much so no chance for him to wear and snap a picture yet... hibernation to study for CFA ends this Sunday!

I also bought hubby a "present" cos he really should wear a watch but if he doesn't like/want it, I will have it for myself! Haha!

Little Miss Daydream is born!

I was sharing with a friend (PS) today over lunch about my thoughts of starting a blog and she was full of encouragement. Guess I have left this for a while and when's a better time to start than now? Was it the yummy lunch we had at Michaelangelos or the tee shirt that I came across over the weekend at Heeren that read "Save the environment - Start a blog and bitch!"? Maybe not so much to bitch and any reason is as good... In any case, I chose the name of the blog to be Little Miss Daydream mostly because - you guessed it - I daydream a lot =)
