Offday!

To spend more time with J and to clear my leave days regularly, I am now working 4 days each week. As relaxing as it sounds, the amount of work has not changed! But, I get to take J out and avoid the weekend crowds ;)

Today we had lunch with G and visited my grandfather with my sister. J also sat for a long stretch (more than 1 hour!) on his bumbo and screamed his lungs out while playin :D

Weaned

Finally, the milking days are over! No regrets here since I did my best to survive past 6 months mark :D

J's current food intake has been limited to brown rice, oats, pear, papaya, banana, carrot, sweet potato, avocado and vanilla custard. Needless to say, his current favourites are sweeter tasting banana and vanilla custard ;P

What next??

It is a danger to have the library come to the office and make it easy to access a range of books. In particular, my company recently had a travel theme range of books by NLB and I managed to borrow 2 books - Twitchiker and Tuk Tuk to the Road. The former is about a journalist who travelled around the world via the goodwill of the community on Twitter. The latter is about 2 Brits who travelled from Bangkok to Brighton on a Tuk Tuk!

Reading these books put me in a melachonic mood and I crave being able to travel on a whim. So I am dreaming of a gap year... a stretch of time when I can spend super high quality time to bond with J and not be bogged down by work concerns. It will be icing on the cake if we can travel together during the year out too. Hm... I shall dream more to turn this into reality :P

Poorly boys

What a week! Besides a hectic working week, J is teething and has been cranky in the early part of the week... plus he is learning to sit, being weaned gradually and formula milk is re-introduced on top of solids. As for G, he had a day surgery for hernia and has been resting at home. But, he behaves like a true invalid so I suppose he just want to take the opportunity to be mothered... here are the poorly boys (G wanted this shot captured):

I hope your pain goes away
A formula mess!

As J seemed his usual cheerful self yesterday, I decided to bring him. Without any destination in mind, I decided to check out Fidgets mentioned by mother friends N and T. It is indeed a place that I could frequent with J when he is older since under 2s are confined to a much smaller play area. But hey! The wait staff is helpful and the food is decent :D

Mummy, finish up your cake, I want to play!
HaHa! I am on top of the world ;)

To be a better Mummy

This makes me want to be a better Mummy. Just for sharing since I am not religious...

A baby asked God, “They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?”

“Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you.”

The child further inquired, “But tell me, here in heaven I don’t have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy.”

God said, “Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel’s love and be very happy.”

Again the child asked, “And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don’t know the language?”

God said, “Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak.”

“And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?”

God said, “Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray.”

“Who will protect me?”

God said, “Your angel will defend you even if it means risking it’s life.”

“But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore.”

God said, “Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you.”

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, “God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel’s name.”

“You will simply call her, ‘Mom.’”

Random pics

A flash update on what J had been up to over the past week or so. Faster to upload pics than to find the right words...After all,
A Picture = One thousand words, no?

I may be chubby but I want to be a gymnast ;)

Papa, that's a funny story! :D

I want to hold the camera!

Gong Xi Gong Xi

Being our first CNY with J, we were careful not to tire/over-stimulate him with too many visits. We stuck to visiting my grandparents and G's folks and ended up with only 4 places on chu yi. Here's a snapshot before we set off! J's wearing a stripey tiger top cos he's a little tiger at heart even though it is the bunny's year :P

J was rather cooperative on the whole and was his bubbly self even at night since we managed to time our visitations such that his longer afternoon nap was back at home. We had a good start in the year of Rabbit then! Yeah! ;)

On chu er, we had a family outing to Sentosa. Well, I wanted to see Sentosa Flowers so I dragged both boys out... as I blogged, both father and son are now catching up on their sleep! Despite the crowd, we managed to enjoy ourselves and had lunch in Resorts World. I had a yummy dessert (Hot Chocolate soup and Black Pepper Ice-cream) while G looked after J who was fussing since it was about time for his nap... as it were, he was lulled to sleep in the stroller after we moved off!

In this Rabbit year, I hope that J will grow up healthy and happy and that he will bring us great parenting joy! To all you readers out there, Happy Rabbit Year! Hop along now!
